According to the Traditional Chinese Medicine concept, it is believed that the disease is a reflection of “the imbalance of Yin and Yang” and abnormal life process caused by viscera dysfunction characteristized by specific etiology with relatively isolated differences across different individuals. As such, comprehensive collection of specific clinical data of patient, detailed analysis of the disease nature, etiology and pathogenesis, conducting correct medical diagnosis, implementation of various treatment, are the requisite requirements for obtaining satisfactory efficacies. The whole process of medical diagnosis is named “diagnosis of the pattern/syndrome, through comprehensive analysis of symptoms and signs, which has implications for determining the cause, nature and location of the illness and the patient’s physical condition, and their treatment”.
