The human body is regarded as an integrated organic entity in the Traditional Chinese Medicine field and it is believed that each part of the human body is structurally inseparable, exerts a co-ordinating and influential role in physiological and pathological functions. In the Traditional Chinese Medicine field, much emphasis has been placed on maintaining the overall relationships namely, the internal part of human body, human and nature, human and society, the application of “harmony between human and nature” concept in understanding the life phenomenon, and observing, analyzing and handling of diseases by adopting the macro and holistic approach. The “holistic” concept is the one of the fundamental characteristics of Traditional Chinese Medicine theories and it has been applied throughout the clinical practice.
